Compare the four maps
Typewell · Updated September 1, 2026
Four maps sit on this site because people show up with four different questions. A name. A bar. A motive. A way of writing Slack. MBTI-style letters, Big Five traits, the Enneagram, and DISC get mashed online into one 'personality test.' They aren't one test. This page is the label on the hallway. Detail lives on MBTI vs Big Five, Methodology, and the type pages.
Four-letter type (Type Compass)
Question: where do you like to point your attention, and how do you like to decide? Output: a code, a name used on this site (Counsel, Lyric, Blueprint, and the rest), and a long page. Good for vocabulary, neighbor fights, compare pages, a story you can walk around. Bad for hiring, diagnosis, and rarity-as-identity. Not the official MBTI®. Ties break toward I, N, F, P.
Big Five / OCEAN (Five Traits)
Question: where do you sit on five research sliders? Output: 0–100 bars and band copy, including what high conscientiousness looks like on a normal day. Good for watching volume, for less identity, and as a second opinion when letters flip. Bad if you wanted a short name to repeat. Not a disorder label. Short scale, noisier than a long inventory.
Enneagram (Drive Map)
Question: which motive is loud right now? Being good, being needed, image, being specific, not getting used up, loyalty, options, strength, peace. Output: type 1–9, a wing hint, a core fear and a core desire. Good for a story about why you stall, which four letters sometimes miss. Bad as a science claim, a certified typing, or a replacement for care. Popular type system, many schools. Close scores mean read two pages.
DISC (Work Pulse)
Question: how do you push, persuade, steady, and specify at work? Output: a primary and a secondary among Drive, Signal, Steady, and Craft, plus how-to-work notes. Good for standups, a better brief, and the guide on working with each style. Bad for hiring, for who you're on Sunday, and for a clinical file. Not certified DiSC®.
Which to take
Name and a long page: Type Compass. Bars: Five Traits. Motive: Drive Map. Teammate Slack: Work Pulse. Closeness: Close Style. Care: Care Style. The job itself: Job Lean. The tense moment: Stress Style. Take two. Take all eight only if you like maps. Then stop collecting for a month and watch a normal week. Legal limits are on Disclaimer. Scoring is on Methodology. Guests can finish everything without an account.

Questions
- MBTI vs Big Five vs Enneagram vs DISC: which is best?
- Best for what. Letters for a story, bars for volume, Enneagram for motive, DISC for how you talk at work. All four are sketches. There's no purity ranking.
- Can I combine them into one type?
- You can read them next to each other. A mashup like 'INFJ 4w5 DC' is a cocktail, not a model. Keep the questions separate so they stay honest.
- Which is the most scientific?
- The Big Five has the strongest research claim as broad traits. That doesn't make the other three useless as vocabularies. It does mean Drive Map isn't a lab result.
For thinking about yourself. Not a diagnosis. Not the official MBTI test.
