Keep
ISFJ personality
Typewell · Updated September 1, 2026
Keep is Typewell's name for ISFJ. The letters are Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging. Introverted: you refill in a quiet room, even if you spent the day attending to faces. Sensing: you remember how the person takes their tea, how the last crisis actually went, where the spare lives. Feeling: the decision has to sit well with the people you're responsible for. Judging: you close the loop — the form sent, the charger packed, the birthday not missed. Together that's a keeper of the small load-bearing facts. Families run on this. So do teams. So do you, until the tank is empty. This page isn't a hymn to self-erasure. It isn't the official MBTI® and it isn't a diagnosis.
An ordinary day is a sequence of preventions. You pack the thing. You send the reminder. You absorb one extra because you can already see the week where nobody did. The spare charger is care that arrived early, quietly, and might never get a thank-you. Growth is asking for the thank-you, and putting a limit on how many weeks you will personally prevent.
At work you do well in care, operations support, education support, nursing, administration that actually serves, libraries, sincere hospitality, HR that isn't a slogan. You wilt where care is demanded and never resourced. Write the labor down. If the org only loves you when you're invisible, you are staffing a machine that has a nice story about itself.
In love you're loyal, specific, and at risk of becoming the household's basement: everything extra falls there. Partners may think you like it that way. Sometimes you do. Sometimes you're waiting for them to pack a charger for you. Ask. You're allowed to be kept as well as to keep.
A common mistake is that ISFJs fear change. You fear careless change, the kind that forgets who gets hurt. Another mistake is that you and ESFJ are the same host. They throw the party. You packed the bag for it three days ago, in a quieter room. Type Compass is a sketch. Keep the spare. Leave room in the glove box for something that is only yours.
If you already hold a unit together, write the preventions down: the errors that didn't happen, the people who ate, the form that went out. Shops forget preventions. Your review shouldn't. Read ESFJ if you want the same care with more of a public role. Read INFJ if the work is more about pattern than about the spare charger. Read ISTJ if you want the same memory with a colder standard.
Questions
- What do the ISFJ letters mean?
- Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, Judging. Typewell's name is Keep: a holdfast of practical memory and closed loops of care. Not a diagnosis, and not the official MBTI®.
- Why do ISFJs get taken for granted?
- They often prevent problems so quietly that the problems look like they never existed. Name the labor and make the yes rarer. A thank-you is information.
- How is ISFJ different from INFJ?
- Both are introverted Judging feelers. ISFJ trusts lived detail and precedent. INFJ trusts pattern and implication. Spare charger versus a long private draft is a decent check. See the comparison page.
- What work fits an ISFJ?
- A human standard and a rhythm: nursing, school support, admin with dignity, libraries, clinic ops. Avoid shops that pay only in 'we're a family.'
For thinking about yourself. Not a diagnosis. Not the official MBTI test.
