INTJ vs ENTJ: Blueprint and Helm

INTJ versus ENTJ is the extraversion question inside a command structure. On this site INTJ is Blueprint and ENTJ is Helm. Both are intuitive thinkers who close loops. The first letter is pace. Blueprint wants the model right in a private office before the room moves. Helm wants the room to move, and will write the agenda before anyone sits, because a stalled room is expensive. If you have three exits drawn and a faint disgust at improvisation, look at INTJ. If the agenda arrived before the coffee, look at ENTJ. You can respect each other into a dry war about whether the drawing or the crew comes first.

Daily life: INTJ packs the backup route and skips the optional meeting. ENTJ batches the calls and hates a meeting that exists to prove care. Both want a target. Only one of them thinks the target should be socialized at speed. Share a life and the fight is a public deadline versus a private draft cycle. Give the INTJ the draft cycle. Give the ENTJ the deadline. That's most of the operating agreement, at home and at work.

At work, Helm wants authority that matches responsibility: a P&L, a production, a docket, a campaign. Blueprint wants a hard problem and a decision that sticks, often without wanting to be the face. Put ENTJ in decorative leadership with no actual helm and they pick fights with the furniture. Put INTJ in a role that's only facilitating feelings about the future and they rot. If you're staffing a company, you may want both. One to move the room. One to keep the room from walking off a cliff. Don't pay them as one 'strategic leader.' Ask whether they want the microphone.

In a relationship, both provide a future that works. ENTJ can turn the house into a second office. INTJ can turn the partner into a junior architect. Both need the sentence of liking, and a night that isn't a board meeting. Together they'll respect the competence and forget to ask what the week felt like. Put that question on the agenda. It's how a helm still has a crew in five years.

What helps: ENTJ opens with two minutes on the actual people, then the plan, and lets someone own a call they could do faster. INTJ lets a version 1 ship and asks a concrete human before locking exit two. People say ENTJs are bullies and INTJs are masterminds in towers. Plenty of Helms are loyal to a crew. Plenty of Blueprints are blunt in writing. Look at the meeting. Did you want it shorter, or did you want it not to exist until the memo was done?
