Enneagram type 7 — Scout

The usual name is Enthusiast. Here it's Scout, because the first move is toward the next option: a new plan, a new city, a new tab. The fear, in the usual teaching, is being stuck in pain. If Drive Map put you here, you already know how fast a heavy conversation makes your mind offer a restaurant, a joke, a trip. That isn't shallowness. Your system treats a limit like something to get away from. The work is to stay one more minute than you want to, and find out the minute didn't kill you.

Daily life is a stack of possible futures. You're fun to travel with and sometimes hard to pin to a lease. You generate options when a room is stuck, which is a real job. You also leave when the middle of a project gets gray. You would rather move through pain quickly, or around it. The usual teaching points toward Type 5 as the stretch: depth, a limit you chose, finishing the thing. You can keep the range and still finish. Finishing is what makes the idea real.

At work you do well in ideation, travel, producing, early companies, reporting, hospitality, any role that rewards range. Pair with someone who closes. Don't put yourself alone in a basement with a five-year spec and no people. A trail of almosts becomes a reputation. One boring middle, finished, will surprise you. A limit you chose is how anything gets made. Practice a yes that lasts past the interesting part.

In a relationship you open a world. The other person may want the same world two nights in a row. Practice boredom on purpose. That's often where you actually get close. If you want to leave a hard talk, say so and name when you'll come back. Jokes are fine. They aren't a substitute for the sentence. Write down the plan you just invented so it still exists after the high fades.

Wings: 7w6 looks more loyal and more anxious about the plan. 7w8 looks more assertive, more earthy, more willing to push. People say Type 7s are immature. Appetite and future-focus can look young to people who think grim is the same as serious. For a 7, growing up often looks like staying, not like becoming joyless. A 7 can also be an introvert. You can hunt options in books, maps, and private projects. Extraversion is a different map.

If this fits, pick one open loop and close it before you start a new fun thing. Sit with a hard feeling for twenty timed minutes without making a plan. The Enneagram is a popular type system, not a science claim. Read Type 3 if the motion is about image more than about room to move. Read Type 9 if the motion is about avoiding a fight more than about appetite. Then go back to a project in the boring middle and do one ugly useful hour.
